Ginger
Tom,
is a small company run by myself and my husband Alan, designing and selling counted cross stitch kits. We live
in Gloucestershire with our two cats, Oscar and Molly, one of which was
the inspiration for the name of the company. The idea to start
a company began when poor health meant that I could no longer
work regular hours. During convelesence, I found that the first
thing I was able to do was pick up my cross stitch, it helped
also to take my mind off feeling bad.... after completing so
many designs I had a good idea of what I really enjoyed about
kits, I loved the cheerful bright colours of the threads, but
found sorting them out, a bit tiresome! My favourite kits were
in the American folk art style, and before long I started to
experiment with my own versions ... folk art with an English
flavour! I also really like designs based on patchwork and more
recently scrapbooking themes.

All of our designs
are stitched by myself, this enables us to spot any mistakes or
make adjustments to the finished result. We can also make sure
that there is plenty of thread included in the kits. Molly and
Oscar, take a keen interest in the business and would love to
get hold of some of the threads! Many of our designs are based
on Alan's watercolour illustrations, I asked him to design a logo
for the Ginger Tom brochure, and then we turned the design into
a kit! Since then we have both been involved with new designs...and
also the layout and design of this website. We enjoy going to
the stitching shows where we can exhibit our new designs, and
meet some of our customers... hope to see you there too!
All Ginger Tom cross stitch kit's include Anchor stranded cotton, pre-sorted onto thread organisers, 14 count Rustico aida (unless otherwise specified,) needle, charts and keys, front cover picture showing finished design and simple stitching guide.
A brochure of our designs can be obtained by sending a first class stamp to: Ginger Tom Designs, 'Barley Twist', 6 Somerford Road, CIRENCESTER, Gloucestershire. GL7 1TN. |
